We often consider people who are the most religious to be the people who have the strongest faith and trust God the most, but this isn’t necessarily true. Faith is a foundation built on ultimate dependency on God, which would mean that you know God so well that, no matter the situation you find yourself in, you know that you will get out of it because you worship a God who protects you, a God who loves you, a God who provides for you, a God who is just,….etc.
Acts of worship certainly act like a catapult to bring you closer to God. That still doesn’t necessarily mean that by worshiping every day, you know who you worship. Being dependent on God happens when you actively search and reflect upon situations around you so that you can see His Glory, rely on His words, and believe in His promises.
Concretely ou can never deeply accept that God is the most Just, even if people tell you every day that God is the most just, until you have seen that when justice is sought, justice is received. Unfortunately, in our world, this way of thinking is very limited by time, which means today you could be receiving an injustice, but the Justice could be coming in years or in the afterlife.
A real life example: let’s say you face a situation where a lot of things happened to you and you just can’t accept it, you can’t understand it, and you don’t know why God is letting this situation happen to you. You could be praying for it, you can be making the effort towards it, but you don’t understand why God is letting you live through it while you try not to live it. And that’s because human beings seek comfort, while comfort is not what’s going to bring evolution, growth or success for you, and God knows that. Therefore, certain things happen in our life without a direct compensation, without a direct knowledge, because it isn’t the truth, the knowledge o the compassion that could bring you there where you need to be. Imagine you have a friend that needs to loose weight, not always, but sometime you need to give them some tough love and push them to begin exercising instead of constantly saying I trust you, you can do it. That anxiety, that comes from being at a bad spot its what pushes you to take action. But unfortunately we have discriminated bad feelings a lot, forgetting they have a purpose and need to be felt. Once you are in the place that you need to be, it’s essential hat you look behind and see how God moved everyone over in order to make you understand whatever it is that you needed to understand.
Only through reflection on your own situations and other people’s situations can you see the hand of God. But again, this is only one part of faith, because faith is also seen when you can’t see anything, you don’t know a way out, you don’t know where you stand, you don’t know where you’re going, and there is where you are requested to trust. But again, had you not done some reflection on the past, you don’t have the necessary information and conviction to depend on God to trust Him to be whatever attribute you need Him to be in the situation you’re in.
This is why we often hear that children are pure in the Divine’s eyes, because when we come here on Earth, we are all vessels that haven’t been given information yet. The second that we touch information, with that information we choose to do what we want to do. For example, I see my family being mean and, in that time, I have the choice to continue the same road as my parents did or separate myself from that and correct them, or correct myself, in order to be better. When a child receives information and starts to have a choice, it’s there where the reflection of that child will help him choose God or not choose God. Because if you see many injustices but your soul seeks Justice or you can see many injustices and think this is the norm, I will go down the same road as my parents did. And if you choose right because of the imperfect state of being a human, you will have the will for Justice but ultimately you can only seek that Justice through a higher being that provides that Justice.
In terms of the Justice only being given by God, this is maybe something I need to explain: the Justice can only come through God because if a human tries to take revenge and tries to take that Justice that has been taken from him, the human does not know at what level to take that Justice back. Which means, let’s say somebody killed one of your family members. The first instinct would be to go kill somebody from their family, but is that Justice? No, because killing a soul will not bring back another soul. Or, for example, let’s say somebody stole from you and you don’t know what to do, so you go steal the same amount. Well, that’s not Justice. You literally disrespected your own values and principles to get even, You did not put Justice. Justice doesn’t necessarily mean equivalent or being even. Like, in order to have Justice, you need to speak the person’s psychological language, consequence, circumstance, or form of harm. And first of all, you might also seek revenge or Justice in the same way that they did it to me, but they don’t have the same weak points that you might have. Like, for example, you might be super upset that you lost 200 euros that got stolen, and another person might not even care about it. So you don’t know how to seek Justice. But yet God speaks everybody’s language, and He knows their whole story, their strong and weak points. So if you want Justice and you ask God, He will only know how to give the perfect justice but you might never see it when this justice is executed. But just like God knows the perfect way he also knows the perfect time. To live the perfect time, again you need full conviction and patience that the justice is coming.
So the choice for good and the fact that humans are attracted towards values that resemble Gods attributes’s is the reason why there is a very great connection between God and the souls who choose God, because their soul has an authentic mentality coming from the attributes of God. If I worship a God who is merciful, just, good, a provider, and everything, I will seek to have some of those values because if I adore and I worship such a being, it’s because I want those values to be around me, to be mine.
Worshipping, praying, fasting doesn’t necessarily mean that I am actively seeking these attributes in my daily life. Worshiping God, could mean I love God and I just read his book, that has certain roles and steps to follow but I haven’t done the work in order to understand who God is, who I am, why am I seeking God, which values I have and need around me.
That is why we see a lot of people that worship God and do bad things. That’s why we see a lot of people worship God but do not trust Him when hardships befall upon them. When you don’t trust God enough, that’s actually not necessarily meaning that you are a bad person or that you do not care about God. Could that just mean that you don’t have enough information on the Glory and the goodness of God? Because if you were to know God and you are sure that His words are the truth, meaning He’s the most just, He’s the most loving, He’s the most kind, then you have no choice because your will seeks these good values. And what I mean by “you haven’t choices” is that your own soul will crave to admire God, to love God, to worship God. But a lot of people tend to not worship God because they do not believe in, or actually use, what God has said and promised Himself to be.
These people are ultimately in the position of the same as if you would have a person in front of you. You would think this person is telling you, “Yes, I am loyal,” but yet you cannot see the loyalty they are pretending they have. So they might know a little about God and they might love God, they might have this need to meet God, but yet if they do not receive knowledge, if they do not receive information, if they do not reflect upon situations that will actually make them realize who God is, then these people will ultimately not know how to trust God.
So, to conclude, the core meaning of this blog is that in order to trust God, try first knowing who God is, try to sit with your situation, try to look at your life from a larger perspective.
